Smelly Giant of Treasury Wildlife

The biggest flower of all is the Rafflesia, a parasitic plant that does not photosynthesize. It grows in the rainforest of Southeast Asia. The plant grows underground and is not visible until a huge bud appears, like a cabbage. This opens up into a leathery flower 1m across and weighing up to 11 kilogram.
The flower looks and smells just like a huge lump of rotting flesh and it attracts thousands of flies which pollinate the flower as they walk on it.
